Lithium Guard
Concrete Sealer, Gloss Enhancer
General Product Description
Lithium Guard is a lithium-fortified, single-component, high gloss sealer that protects concrete slabs (whether mechanically scrubbed or polished) terrazzo from stains and wear. Formulated to provide increased durability, an extremely reflective surface, and deep penetration to bond to concrete. Lithium Guard resists abrasion and wear, and extends the life of polished concrete, producing a surface that can be burnished to easily remove scuffs and surface markings. Its low VOC content makes this product environmentally friendly.

Surface Preparation
For a scrub and seal: mechanically scrub and rinse the concrete and allow time to dry prior to applying Lithium Guard.
For a grind/seal or polish: grind concrete to desired level. Vacuum dust and wipe with a microfiber to ensure a clean surface.
Mixing
Shake or stir thoroughly before applying.
Patching
Voids, cracks, and imperfections will be seen in finished application if the concrete is not patched correctly. Patch concrete with Polymer Patch. (A cementious patch material is acceptable foot traffic only.) After the patching material has cured, shave and/or diamond grind the patch flush with the concrete.
Testing
All concrete surfaces are not the same. It is recommended that a sample area be done prior to the start of the project. The test should be done on-site, using the proposed method by the assigned applicator to ensure desired finish.
Application Process
NOTE: If floor is not burnished, allow each application to dry at least 30-60 minutes before applying the next coat.
- Thoroughly clean floor to prepare for sealer. If grinding/polishing concrete, and use a clean microfiber dust mop to dust the entire area. This will help prevent dust streaks in the coating.
- Choose from 12-24″ microfiber application pads. Select pad based on size of application area and applicator’s experience with sealer.
- Apply Lithium Guard using a fine mist, pump sprayer and a clean, pre-dampened microfiber pad and applicator. Apply at a rate of 1,500-2,500 Sq Ft per gallon depending on the surface profile, spreading material thinly and evenly so it completely covers the substrate. It is recommended to seal sections no larger than 20×20′ at one time. Be sure to clean the pump sprayer when finished, as the material may harden and damage the equipment.
- Allow to dry for 30 minutes between coats if burnishing. If not burnishing, allow to dry for 60 minutes.
- Burnish/buff with a high-speed machine (1,500-2,500 rpm). Burnishing individual coats is the recommended method to improve the curing process and overall shine. Burnishing will renew the high gloss and wear protection properties of the treated surface, easily eliminating scuffs, heal, and tire marks after initial treatment. Use 800 grit pads to burnish the first coat of sealer. For any additional coats, use 1,500 grit pads.
- If additional coats are required to achieve desired finish, repeat steps 3-5 depending on the surface profile and desired gloss levels. Repeated applications build a stain resistant microfilm over the substrate. Do not over apply. It is important to apply very thin coats. If applied too thick, the material may not cure properly. The sealer may also become discolored, or leave streaks and applicator marks.
- Avoid any moisture on the sealer for at least 72 hours. Do not allow standing water on the sealer for 14 days. Do not cover the surface for the first 24 hours, even with protective sheeting, can cause the material to cure improperly and result in a cloudy or whitened effect. Do not apply tape over the surface of the sealer as it will mar the surface.
Maintenance
Recommended maintenance includes regular sweeping and mopping of the treated surface. Washing and mechanical scrubbing with neutral pH cleaners/water is also recommended. Do not use acidic or citrus cleaners, or cleaners that contain butoxy-ethanol on the treated floors.
